Recent Updates on Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the most common malignancy among women worldwide, presenting significant challenges in diagnosis, treatment, and management. In the UAE, breast cancer is not only the most common form of cancer identified in women, but also the leading cause of cancer-related mortality. The complexity and heterogeneity of breast cancer necessitate continuous education for healthcare professionals to stay abreast of the latest developments in the field.

Recent years have seen significant strides in breast cancer research, leading to the development of more precise diagnostic tools and innovative treatment options. Key trends include advancements in imaging and molecular profiling, targeted therapies and immunotherapy, and minimally invasive techniques, leading to better patient outcomes and quality of life. Despite these advancements, there are notable gaps in the translation of research findings into clinical practice. Specific gaps include the lack of knowledge or adoption of new diagnostic tools into clinical practice, the lack of implementation of novel therapies, and the adoption of comprehensive management strategies.

The proposed CPD program aims to address these gaps and bridge the divide between research and practice, ensuring that healthcare professionals are well-informed and capable of delivering the highest standard of care.
